Crimes (Un)Cased: The Queen of Diamonds

Does a chance to win $25,000.00 and an opportunity to act like a detective to solve a crime case peak your interest? If so, you're in luck, thanks to the National Law Enforcement Museum. I only recently found out about the National Law Enforcement Museum myself, and last week I had the opportunity to experience the museum first hand to preview the launch of their new Crimes (Un)Cased interactive experience, The Queen of Diamonds. The National Law Enforcement Museum is the nat

#DeepTime Preview at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History

On Monday morning I woke up earlier than normal ready to get my week started. I was - for once - excited for Monday. My excitement stemmed from the fact that I'd be ringing in the work week with 700 fossils and the famous 'Nation's T. rex" at the all new Deep Time Exhibit at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History for a media preview. Metro 'If You See Something, Say Something' Campaign

I'm so excited that I can finally share the details of a super fun project I worked on with Metro at the beginning of last month! In support of the 'If You See Something, Say Something' campaign run by Department of Homeland Security, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (aka the Metro), launched a public awareness campaign featuring local voices from the DC community, including myself!!!!! When the opportunity came up, I was so excited. I take the metro through

    Holiday Gift Guide: Alexis Bittar

With the deadline to order gifts online coming up, I'm focusing my next few gift guides on items that you can find locally in DC, because if you're like me, you have procrastinated on a few items and will need to go shopping this weekend in all the masses. LOL, lucky us! I recently had the opportunity to work with one of my favorite jewelry designers, Alexis Bittar, on the brand new winter collection. The collection is pure fire and I wanted to share a few pieces with you to

BOURBON on Ice at the Four Seasons Georgetown

With the holiday season approaching fast, now is the time to lock in plans for fun holiday/winter inspired events and activities. Luckily, in DC you don't have to go too far to find amazing activities that will be sure to warm your spirit and let you revel in this magical time of year. One of these activities is BOURBON on Ice at the Four Seasons Hotel in Georgetown. A few weeks ago I was invited to a preview of BOURBON on Ice at the Four Seasons Hotel. The name BOURBON on Ic

    WhyHotel DC

What is the best thing to do with one of your closest friends you haven't seen in awhile? A Girls Night, of course!!! Last weekend one of my closest blog friends, Roxanne, was in town from Chicago and we celebrated a very fabulous Friday night at the brand new WhyHotel in NoMa! The WhyHotel is a luxury pop-up hotel, located in the 100K Apartment Building in NoMa, and just opened for business last Friday, October 19. Roxanne and I were lucky enough to stay with the hotel on op

    Crumbs & Whiskers

Its no surprise here that I love cats. This obsession is one that started when I was 5 and my parents bought me a fluffy white kitten, after I screamed and cried the whole way home that I wanted the kitten after a trip to the pet store. We got home, my parents called the pet store to hold the kitten, and we got back in the car to the pet store. And that, friends, is how it all started.... Growing up we always had cats in my home. My first cat, Harry- mentioned above- was a fl

    Mandarin Oriental Date-Cation

Following my Vegas trip earlier this month, I was so excited to do a Date-Cation at the Mandarin Oriental DC. This mini staycation came at the perfect time as I was having a post-vacation depression of getting back to real life – something I think a lot of us go through after a long vacation. Whether it’s a post-vacay depression or just a need to do something different one weekend, a local staycation is the perfect remedy. Last weekend my husband and I stayed at the Mandarin

    LOVE IS LOVE

I still remember being 16 years old, walking into my new high school looking for a friendly face, scared and nervous of a brand new school where I only knew two people. One of those people was Rey, a life-long acquaintance that I'd known since the age of 3. Our parents worked together at the Federal Reserve Bank in Richmond, and there is a picture of us somewhere dancing together at a wedding as toddlers. Growing up, we would see each other at our parents work family gatherin

    #XOQ Florals? For Spring? Groundbreaking.

I couldn't resist naming todays post after the famous Miranda Priestly quote from Devil Wears Prada. Anyone who is anyone obviously thinks of flowers when they think about spring. Call me 'basic' <because cherry blossoms are all I'm seeing in everyones social media feeds> but for todays post I couldn't help but use DC's famous Cherry Blossoms as my backdrop and inspiration for this ELOQUII floral spring look. Awhile ago I said in a post that there was nothing prettier than DC

    Washington Life Magazine 2018 Trendsetter

When I started my blog in 2014, one goal I had was to "make it into a Washington DC publication." This goal is something that I always strived for, as it was my very first long-term goal. To me, it means hard work and growth, and I knew that if I ever made it into a DC publication, that would mean I have worked hard and grown as a brand. Today I am so ecstatic to share that my goal/dream of making it into a DC publication is here. I am honored to have been included in Washin

    More Self Love

Last Thursday I attended the screening of an empowering documentary, Straight/Curve: Redefining Body Image. The event was hosted by Jamiee and Shayla, the voices behind Plus in the DMV podcast. The film was so inspiring as it documented famous supermodels- both straight and plus size, and captured their thoughts and experiences in the fashion industry, related to size. The message of the film was a universal promotion of self love and body positivity and I am so happy that I

    1950s Creative Collab

For the like thousandth time, I will say it again- my favorite thing about blogging is the people it has introduced me to. Blogging has introduced me to some amazing, creative people who have inspired me and pushed me creatively. Today's post is dedicated to a creative collaboration with DC area photographer, Stephen Creative Lab aka @ayostephens on Instagram. Stephen and I collaborated on a vintage inspired creative shoot. I appreciated that when we were planning the shoot,

Shopping local. It is something that I always value doing to support the community. My husband is a small business owner and I have seen first hand everything that goes into running a business, and the number one thing we depend on is business from the community. Having seen this first hand and having gotten to know a number of small business owners in DC <some of which I can call friends!> I am a huge advocate for shopping small. When presented the opportunity, I will <almos

    Fab Friday: ELOQUII NOIR Collection

I am so excited for todays FAB Friday post. This post is SO FAB and I've been keeping it a secret for some time now, and the anticipation of sharing this with you all has been killing me! It's with much anticipation that I announce the new ELOQUII NOIR Collection- a black tie capsule collection that was inspired by the glamour and glitz of Paris - and I'm even more excited to announce that I have teamed with ELOQUII on the NOIR campaign! As you all are well aware, ELOQUII is

Beyond the Little Black Dress - October 7

In 2015, I had the honor of attending the Beyond the Little Black Dress fashion show hosted by the Alliance Française . I was a volunteer for the event and took over their Instagram handle to cover the show. It was that year that I was introduced to AF, and the magic of French culture in DC. You see, I always loved Paris, but the charm of an organization such as the Alliance Française was new to me. I was mesmerized by the Beyond the Little Black Dress show, and it is one of

    ARTECHOUSE Spirit of Autumn

Last week I was invited to a preview of the Spirit of Autumn at the new art phenom, ARTECHOUSE. ARTECHOUSE is the first technology based innovate art space in DC. The exhibits are completely immersive and interactive with viewers, making everyone part of the art. The space opened over the summer with the XYZT: Abstract Landscapes, which I unfortunately didn't get to see. When I saw the preview invite for the newest exhibit, entitled Spirit of Autumn, I jumped on the opportu

Today I'll be jet setting off again for the weekend, but this time its for blog work and not vacation like last weekend. When I travel, I like to be comfortable. However, its funny I say that, because I'm taking the Mega Bus to NYC, and the chances of that being comfortable are slim, lol. But hey, thats what a $12 ticket gets you. I really wish I were riding to NYC in the comfort of a DCAcar Service luxury vehicle, but, I'll have to keep on wishing. DCAcar Service provides lu

    Diner en Blanc 2017

Last night I attended Diner en Blanc for the first time. I was extended an invitation from Angelica Talan of Angelica in the City and Clarendon Moms and I was so excited to finally see what all the fuss was about! I had seen other friends attend previous years, but I didn't know the full scope of the event until this year. Diner en Blanc is a tradition that started in Paris, France in 1988. The supper club tradition started when the founder, François Pasquier, wanted to have
