Sunset Over D.C.

Sunset Over Washington D.C.: Contributing Article for StyleBlend Magazine

Watching the sunset is one of my favorite summer pastimes, especially when it involves a fun, new activity. When in Washington D.C., you must take advantage of the many places to take in the gorgeous sunset over the monumental city. Here is a list of the best places to watch the sun go down in the Washington D.C. Metro area.

1. The Tidal Basin

Take your camera and find a bench around the Tidal Basin to sit back, relax, and take in the view. Or, for more adventure, rent a paddle boat and enjoy the sights from the water.

2. The Kennedy Center

Catch a free show at Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage, which occur almost nightly, and watch the sunset from the River Terrace afterwards.

3. The Liaison Capitol Hill

Rent a pool pass and enjoy an evening swim in The Liaison Hotel’s urban chic rooftop pool while the sun sets. Not looking to swim? You can still enjoy the luxurious rooftop with Happy Hour Monday-Thursday from 5-7:30pm.

4. Gravelly Point Park

Watch the planes land into Reagan National Airport at Gravelly Point Park with an evening picnic, or take an evening stroll along the Mount Vernon Trail to watch night fall over DC.

5. Don Titos

Visit the Arlington hotspot, Don Titos rooftop bar, for gorgeous sky views with a lively bar scene and great food and drinks. Tip: go on a Tuesday to partake in their ‘Taco Tuesday’ specials for discounted tacos and drinks!
