Back in February I had the idea to get a group of other DC bloggers together for an in-person meet up. At that time, I only actually knew a handful of other DC bloggers in person, but had relationships with others solely on Instagram. I wanted to bring us together (for brunch of course), to meet face-to-face and actually enjoy each other's company. I had a second motive behind this brunch too- to create an inclusive environment as I have personally felt so excluded at other blog-focused events I'd been to in the past.
It started with a small group of other fabulous blogger ladies, and in the past 7 months has grown into a support network and sisterhood of sorts. Our group, named Bubbles & Bloggers (bubbles since our meet-ups are normally scheduled around bottomless mimosas), has met monthly since February and it is continuing to grow into a special community of #WomenSupportingWomen, which I had envisioned from day 1 and couldn't be happier about.
For the August meetup, we brunched at Adams Morgan hotspot, Bourbon, thanks to owners Gjergji and James who accommoded our group of blogger ladies for what turned out to be a fantastic brunch. This brunch had a great mix of Bubbles & Bloggers repeat alum with a lot of new faces as well. The vibe at this brunch was seriously one of the best I think we've had and the conversations about life + blogging were flowing as well as the bottomless mimosas! The environment was totally inclusive and I could seriously feel the blog love and positive energy all around the table.
The food, which is always an important part of brunch, was also on point. Bourbon has a great menu filled with lots of different options. They offer bottomless mimosas, which can be ordered individually and the whole party does not have to participate in, along with a number of other brunch cocktails and beer options. Their entrees are a great mix of brunch fare and I'll say that everyone's food looked and smelled amazing. I ordered the Eggs Benedict with bacon and it was seriously some of the best Eggs Benedict I've had in a long time! Jia raved about the french toast, and Sarah loved her Breakfast Burrito with tater tots. The bottomless mimosas were also delish, with no shortage of champagne in the mix! The service was exceptional and the Bourbon staff was accommodating and friendly to our group. The chef even came out to check on us and make sure we liked our food (we did!). Bourbon offers upscale dining for brunch, lunch, and dinner, as well as caters to the bar and party crowds on Friday and Saturday nights on their second level bar. Bourbon also has a *amazing* patio that I can't wait to experience when the weather gets cooler!
The Blogger ladies!
