$10 Lashes

It’s a new year! I hope everyone had a fabulous and fun New Year’s Eve.

This year, I have vowed to be better about beauty posts on BITD. When I did a poll recently on Instagram stories on what you all wanted to see more of, beauty posts were a high contender. So, I’m starting off the year on track with my first beauty post of 2018- all about lashes! Well, drugstore lashes, that is!

Mascara is always one of my go-to makeup products I obsess over and is <one> of my can’t-leave-the-house-without items. I did a post about two months ago reviewing the Younique mascara which was very good. But, today I’m focusing on lashes that you can achieve with drugstore brands! While I will dish money on good mascara, finding good steals with drugstore brands feels great and is easy on the wallet when your budget may be a little tight <ahem, like right now, after the holidays>.

The other week I didn’t have time to run to Sephora when my mascara ran out, so I swung by CVS to see what I could find. I decided to try L’Oreal because of the brush on the Voluminous Lash Paradise Waterproof Mascara. Many of the drugstore mascara brands have rubber applicator brushes and they just do not do it for me. This one has a wavy bristle brush- which I always prefer. I picked the waterproof, as my lashes are longer and normal mascara tends to run easily.

This mascara is amazing. It totally lifts my lashes without having to curl them and makes them super long and full. I haven’t tried a mascara like this in a long time, and I’m totally hooked. It hasn’t run once, in fact it stays put so much that the only makeup remover that I can get it all off with is Cetaphil Liquid Makeup Remover <the best makeup remover I’ve used recently, FYI>. The best thing about the mascara? It’s a whopping $9.99 and it won a Allure 2017 Best of Beauty placement. I even have chosen to go eyeliner-less on occasion <weekdays for work, mostly> because I feel I don’t even need it with the way it makes my lashes look- long and full!

If you are looking for more dramatic lashes, I still have found the best false lashes to be from drugstore brand Ardell, for under $10. I do find higher end lashes to be great too, but they can be upwards of $20+, and the difference isn’t that big to me. I recently tried the Ardell Double Up Wispies for a recent shoot, and OMG are they good. They give the perfect appearance of full and thick lashes and cost $6. Ardell has a great range of options, including more natural looking falsies if the double wispies may be too much for you. The brand also makes the only lash glue that does not irritate my eyes- DUO, which is also super affordable and one container will last you a very long time. Or, you can even find a Deluxe Pack which includes two set of lashes, an applicator, and the glue for $6! Below are links to some of my favorites from the brand!
