NYFW Diary: Day 1

I'm so excited to finally share my NYFW looks and experience with you, friends. I attended Fall/Winter 2017 NYFW in February for the first time and it was incredible. Going into the September Spring/Summer 2018 NYFW, I knew it was going to be incredible again, but this season turned out to be completely surreal. We had celeb sightings, saw amazing shows, and partied it up in NYC, going to sleep at like 3am every night, to wake up at 7am each morning and do it all over again. It was a f***ing blast.

I attended with Roxanne of Glass of Glam and Catherine of Dreamy Realist. We were there for just 3 days but we maximized our time there. I'm breaking out my NYFW posts into 3 and posting my diaries by day, because that just made the post sense to me. Today I'm sharing my outfit details and what we did for Day 1 of our NYFW experience.

NYFW Diary: Day 1

We woke up, still stunned from a Christian Siriano sighting we had from the night before. Coming in from a late dinner at Buddakan, we arrived to our hotel- the Dream Midtown- to Christian Siriano standing outside with his partner Brad Walsh. Stunned by his fabulousness, I shouted "YOU'RE F***ING AMAZING" as we walked by him. I think I startled him, but he looked up from his phone and said "Oh, thank you!!!" I felt bad asking him for a photo as it looked like this was his free time and I didn't want to bother him. In hindsight, I 100% should've asked for a photo. Oh well, next time. After stalking his Instagram, we saw he had been at the Dream Midtown's rooftop for a surprise party for Leslie Jones.

We started with a photo session with Preethi Rajaguru who I worked with back in December. She is crazy talented and I knew we needed to hit her up for our NYFW photos. After a morning of photos, we went to our first show, which closed its doors at max capacity when we were the NEXT IN LINE to get in (sigh). It was a disappointment, but this happens at NYFW sometimes. We took it as a lesson to get in line for shows earlier to avoid this happening again.

Since we missed the first show, we decided to hit Chelsea Maket for lunch instead. We barely had any free time, and our ongoing joke of the trip was "when are we going to eat?!" lol. So, we took this unexpected free time to have lunch and fuel up for the craziness of the rest of the day. At Chelsea Market I had a tuna salad bagel from Davidovich Bagel and it was amazing. I also had 2 mini doughnuts from Doughnuttery because they are the most amazing dessert ever.

We then hit up the Kepaza show. Kepaza is a brand from Norway and her show was full of beautiful colors and interesting cuts and shapes. She also included curve models in her show, which stood out to me and I really liked her inclusiveness.

Following the Kepaza show, we visited the BaubleBar Headquarters and show room. They had all of their upcoming lines on display so we got to see a sneak peek of the fall and holiday collections. I left wanting pretty much everything and while we were there, Courtney Kerr of Kerrently was also visiting so we got to meet her IRL. She was gorgeous, friendly, and absolutely hilarious.

Next up was the Cindy Monteiro show. We got in line early to ensure we got in before max capacity was reached. The presentation was beautiful and had a Caribbean/island theme with lots of shell and burlap details. The models walked barefoot and the music made me feel like I should be beachside drinking a Pina Colada.

Last on our list was the WWD x Samsung Style Dimension VIP party. It took place at Samsung 837, which is an open to the public lab and digital showroom for events and services. It is an incredible space and has a huge open auditorium and spans three levels with state-of-the-art Samsung products. The event was hosted with Michael Todd Beauty and Saks Fifth Ave and was a fantastic event filled with technology, beauty, and style.

Day 1 was a success and to end our evening, we celebrated our first day of NYFW with champagne and cheeseburgers at Lillie's, a victorian themed bar and restaurant near Times Square.

Day 2 of NYFW will be hitting the blog tomorrow, which will feature my time at The Curvy Con and the ultra exciting Philipp Plein show.

XOXO
