Florals....for fall

One thing I am always up for, is a style challenge. Especially when its showing how to wear one item multiple ways. When buying an item, I like to look at all of the ways I can wear it before I buy it. I especially like to do this for items that can be deemed hard to style. It makes me feel better about a purchase knowing I'll get lots of wear out of it.

Which leads to today's post- how to style a floral duster for fall! This post was an idea that I collaborated on with Undeniable Boutique. Undeniable Boutique is a local business (makes it even better! You all know I love to support local businesses!), and I absolutely adore the ultra cool and unique vibes of the items that Alicia, the owner of Undeniable Boutique, curates the store with. When shopping at Undeniable, you know you are getting an item that not everyone is going to have. The shop is filled with tops, bottoms, dresses, all with a unique flair, and amazing accessories and fun purses. There are two store fronts in Mosaic District and Fairfax Corner and an online store as well. Today's post is focused on a new arrival, the Floral Velvet Duster.

I have always loved dusters and kimonos, as they give the perfect amount of boho yet classy vibes to a look. This one in particular is perfect to transition into fall since it is crushed velvet and is surprisingly warm, making it great for cooler fall days! I decided to style the floral duster three ways in my fave combo- for work, for day, and for play.

For work, I paired the duster with black faux leather pants from Ellos, a basic black tank, and classic black pumps. Side note: I was supposed to have topped this with a belt, however I forgot the belt when I shot the photos. Hashtag reallife. So, imagine there is a black wide belt topping the duster, lol. It really pulls the outfit together. Ok, back to this look - I love the idea of not wearing a typical blazer and skirt/pant combo to the office. Especially now that most offices are on the more business casual side, this look can totally take you from that 9-5 to happy hour in a breeze. Remember to add a belt to finish off and really polish the look for the office! Tip- you could also swap the all black for white, tan, or burgundy. Also, as it gets cooler outside, I'll be wearing a black turtleneck instead of the tank!

For day, I styled the duster with distressed jeans, a light pink bodysuit, fur slides, and a fun camera clutch (similar). This look is perfect for weekend styles to take you from shopping to brunch with girlfriends. I decided to go all out on the fun accessories like the clutch and the slides to give the look a playful daytime vibe.

For play - my favorite category - I wore the duster over a slip dress (similar here and here) with lucite heels and an embellished clutch (similar). The duster over a slip dress look is one of my favorite combinations. I find it to be so classy, yet sexy at the same time. It makes me think of Sex and the City when Carrie wears the floral kimono jacket and slip dress with brand new pink Louboutins to say goodbye to Big before he leaves for Napa in the Season 4 finale. I mean, sigh. This look is timeless to me, and I will always find this pairing stylish and beautiful.
