Hollywood Casino at Charles Town

Two weekends ago I had the most fun trip to Harpers Ferry, WV. We initially came out to experience River Riders during the daytime, and when searching for evening activities, we decided we wanted to check out Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races. An added perk to checking out Hollywood Casino, is O.A.R. happened to be performing in concert the same weekend! Who else remembers O.A.R. from college days? I still love That Was a Crazy Game of Poker and have amazing memories from that song.

Thanks to Hollywood Casino, we were invited to attend the O.A.R. concert and experience the casino. I personally love casinos because they make me think of Vegas, even though I'm not a huge gambler. What I love about casinos is the flashing lights, the atmosphere, and I especially love when casinos are loud with people cheering- because that means people are winning! At Hollywood Casino you can expect all of this with their endless slot machines, table games, and poker. Hollywood Casino also has horse racing, which we didn't get to experience this visit, but want to come back for.

While the casino is a large part of the property, Hollywood Casino also has a concert and events center, five restaurants, onsite accommodations, and a bar/lounge with live entertainment on Friday and Saturday. It is truly a one stop shop for nightlife and gambling - and the best part is it is only a 1.25 hour drive from DC.

To be honest, until I was searching for things to do in Harpers Ferry area for night life, I had no idea Hollywood Casino even had concerts and entertainment, in addition to the casino and races! This was a huge surprise for me, and it was an even bigger surprise to see the line up! Their events lineup through the fall is seriously so good and packed with huge names like Sinbad, Jay Leno, The Temptations and The Four Tops, and Jeff Foxworthy. I also like that their tickets are affordably priced, which in casinos isn't always the case! Seeing O.A.R. in the events center was an awesome experience. The center is the perfect size- its not too big, which makes it feel personal. The acoustics were very good, and O.A.R. put on a great show. They ended with That Was a Crazy Game of Poker, and the crowd was going wild- me included, lol!

After the concert we had a late dinner at the Skybox Sports Bar, which overlooks the casino and the bar/lounge and has TV's all around for sports viewing. Skybox specializes in an extensive beer list, cocktails, and pub fare. We ordered tons of food since we were starving, but my favorite thing we had were the loaded tater tots. They were so flavorful and crispy, and I still think about them to this day! Following dinner we played the slot machines and took in the casino.

On the topic of sports, the one thing Hollywood Casino doesn't have is a Sportsbook- but, that is not for long! Come Labor Day weekend on September 1, Hollywood Casino will be unveiling their new Sportsbook! The same day, Sinbad will also be performing two shows, and they are hosting the West Virginia BBQ Festival. To celebrate for the upcoming festivities, I've teamed up with Hollywood Casino to gift two separate sets of tickets to see Sinbad on September 1 and Jay Leno on September 15. To enter, head to my latest Instagram post for details!

Overall, my experience in Harpers Ferry for River Riders and Hollywood Casino was so much fun and made for a great, quick weekend getaway from DC! Thank you for having us, Hollywood Casino, I can't wait to come back!
