When I moved to Old Town Alexandria 1.5 years ago, I was SO excited. I was excited for a new neighborhood, new restaurants, new experiences, and ultimately- all the amazing shopping I was going to be close to! Old Town has some of the best local boutiques and I was so excited to have them all at my fingertips. That said, I quickly learned that clothing shopping was not going to be easy for me, given the fact that many of the Old Town boutiques don’t offer extended sizing. I’ve admired the Old Town boutiques and the gorgeous clothing that I’d love to wear from afar, until now…
A few months ago I posted IG Stories about an experience I had locally trying to find a last minute dress for a Derby party I was going to. I went to Pentagon City mall in hopes to find something fast. I normally go straight to ELOQUII since I know they will have something in my size (a 16, FYI). On this one morning, ELOQUII had a technical issue with their computers and the store was closed. I was in a panic. I ultimately found something at Nordstrom in the Encore section, but I couldn’t believe that a size 16 woman only had about 2-3 options within an entire mall for a stylish dress (literally, I had almost ZERO options!). I took to my IG stories to share my experience and bring awareness that women of all shapes and sizes need to have options in store!
My message resonated with Elizabeth Todd, owner of the beautifully curated The Shoe Hive and The Hive in Old Town. Elizabeth contacted me a few weeks later saying she watched my IG stories and wanted to host a size inclusive Veronica Beard Trunk Show this fall. I absolutely LOVE that she is willing to bring inclusive sizing to Old Town for the trunk show- this is a HUGE deal!! It is going to be one of the first times there will be inclusive sizing available for women size 14 and above in Old Town Alexandria local boutiques.

If you aren’t familiar with The Hive or The Shoe Hive- you need to be! Elizabeth originally opened The Shoe Hive and it is an Old Town staple for amazing shoes and accessories. You can find tons of shoe options at The Shoe Hive from casual to dressy, and accessories spanning from jewelry to bags and sunglasses. There is something for everyone at The Shoe Hive! The Hive opened more recently and is focused on apparel. Think elevated basics that are always in style and worth the investment. The clothing selection is absolutely stunning and they also carry accessories and jewelry as well.
This Thursday, Sept 19 I’ll be co-hosting the extended size Veronica Beard Trunk Show with The Hive from 6-8pm. There will be a display of the Veronica Beard fall line with sizing available up to 24. There will be a bartender slinging cocktails, discounts, and I will be co-hosting and celebrating the fact that The Hive is changing the Old Town sizing script!!!!!
